Andrea was born in Dalian, a city in Northeast China. At the age of four Andrea began attending “Dalian youth performance academy”(大连市少年宫)studying voice, piano, rhythmic gymnastics and painting. In 1994 Andrea competed in the Liaoning Province “Jin Wei Bei” Youth Singing Competition (“津威杯”少年儿童歌手大赛)and won first place. That same year, Andrea became the youngest person to host the annual “Children’s Day” concert gala (“六一”晚会)on Liaoning TV (辽宁电视台). Between 1995 through 1998 Andrea was kept busy with various performances, competitions, and appearances on both Dalian TV and national CCTV. In 1998 Andrea took a role in the TV series “Lei Feng’s Death Pertains to Me”(电视剧 “雷锋之死与我有关“).
In 1999 Andrea left her young career behind and moved to the United States with her mother. After adjusting to living in a small town in Ohio and learning English, she quickly adapted to the life of an average American teenager. Andrea was voted “most likely to succeed” in 2006, when she graduated from Athens High School. She went on to attend the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, majoring in Public Relations Journalism and East Asian Studies. During the summer of 2008 Andrea took an internship with The Miss Universe Organization and spent a month traveling around Vietnam working on the “Miss Universe Pageant“. During her time in college, she worked part-time as stage manager at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium, and held leadership positions such as President of the Chinese Students & Scholars Association and International Affairs Commissioner of the Ohio University Student Senate.
After graduating early from school in November 2009, Andrea moved to Los Angeles, California and began working as a news production assistant at the entertainment news organization TMZ. But her time working for TMZ is winding down, as Andrea recently received and accepted a Fulbright Scholarship Grant for the 2010/2011 academic year to research the education of underprivileged students in China. After she carries out the Fulbright, Andrea plans to attend law school to study international or entertainment law.
